- Quote
- "I don’t have a memory of not having the love of story in my life. I mean, from the time I was little, my mother was a storyteller; she was keeping the history alive, she was saying, “This is who you are and why; and you’re making that happen.”
- Story
- For me, every part, every participant in the humanities programs, regardless of their role or station, tended to come away kinder, more tolerant, more inquisitive, more community-centered, engaged, and perhaps hopeful. The humanities work best when audiences are participants and cover something that they have a shared stake in. I still believe that’s the key. My time at Utah Humanities was transformative and I think honestly, everybody that walks through those doors is already drawn to something good, you know? They do it in their own ways, and they are not always the ways that I wanted to do it, or that I thought were most needed. But I know that they all were, in one form or another, fighting for good stuff.
